Before joining IPPR in March 2016, Charlotte completed a PhD in politics at the University of Edinburgh, from which she also holds an MSc in policy studies and MSc by research in politics. Prior to this she completed a BA in politics at the University of Leeds.
Her academic research has focused primarily on the political engagement of young people in elections, with particular interest in the impact of differential educational experiences on political attitudes. Charlotte has developed additional expertise in social research and policy evaluation following employment in various research roles, most recently with the UK Cabinet Office, Jubilee Scotland and the Scottish Youth Parliament. Alongside her PhD, she has been a tutor of social statistics at the University of Edinburgh, contributing to both undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
