Rick Muir

Rick leads IPPR’s research on public service reform, covering health, education and crime.

Rick's work focuses on how public services should be redesigned to help tackle increasingly complex social challenges. Before joining IPPR, Rick obtained a DPhil in politics from Oxford University, writing a thesis on the challenges facing the contemporary Latin American left.

Rick lives in Hackney, where he is active in the local community as a councillor, school governor and co-chair of an estate regeneration steering group. He also chairs the council’s Governance and Resources Scrutiny Commission. He recently served as a member of the Independent Police Commission chaired by Lord Stevens which looked at the future of the police service in England and Wales.
