Rick's work focuses on how public services should be redesigned to help tackle increasingly complex social challenges. Before joining IPPR, Rick obtained a DPhil in politics from Oxford University, writing a thesis on the challenges facing the contemporary Latin American left.
Rick lives in Hackney, where he is active in the local community as a councillor, school governor and co-chair of an estate regeneration steering group. He also chairs the council's Governance and Resources Scrutiny Commission. He recently served as a member of the Independent Police Commission chaired by Lord Stevens which looked at the future of the police service in England and Wales.
