Spencer Thompson

Spencer works on a range of policy areas centred around the economy.

Spencer comments regularly on public policy issues. Recent coverage includes: the Guardian's Comment is Free, the New Statesman, Public Servant, BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC regional radio. Spencer's work has been covered by the Guardian, Telegraph and BBC News, as well as various local newspapers, blogs and websites.

Before joining IPPR, Spencer worked as a research assistant at The Work Foundation, where he carried out research into industrial policy, labour market change and science and innovation policy. Previously he has worked for the mayor of London's Economic Analysis Unit, conducting research on the living wage, local labour markets and regional macroeconomic forecasting. Spencer holds a BSc in economics from the University of Sussex.
