Beyond the bluster: the effectiveness of wind power technology

IPPR is working with a leading renewable energy consultancy, GL Garrad Hassan, to evaluate claims that have often been made, including in a letter to David Cameron by a group of more than 100 MPs, criticising the effectiveness of wind power technology.

 

We believe it is important to get ‘beyond the bluster’ on wind power and look at the facts.

We will publish a report that answers two questions:

  1. Is wind power an effective technology for reducing carbon emissions?
  2. Is wind power a reliable and secure energy source?

The report is being carried out on a pro bono basis with no sponsorship
