Katie is an experienced media performer and has appeared on the BBC Politics Show, the BBC News channel, and numerous local radio stations. She has written articles for the Guardian, Public Finance, Local Government Chronicle and various regional and local newspapers, including the Newcastle Journal and Yorkshire Post. She speaks at a wide range of conferences and seminars with audiences ranging from grassroots voluntary organisations to senior government officials. Katie has also written articles and chapters for academic publications on devolution and social justice.
Before joining IPPR as a Research Assistant in 2004, Katie worked for the campaign for an elected regional assembly in the North East of England. She has also worked for the Campaign for the English Regions and for an MP. Katie studied Politics at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and has an MA in Regional Development from the Centre for Urban and Regional Development Studies.
