David is an experienced media performer and comments regularly on economic policy developments, with recent appearances on BBC News, BBC Radio 4 Money Box, BBC Five Live and Monocle magazine’s 24-hour radio station. He has recently written articles for the New Statesman, Huffington Post, Left Foot Forward, Open Democracy, Public Finance and China Dialogue. His work has been covered in The Times, Daily Telegraph, Guardian, Sun, Daily Mail, Mirror, the FT Beyond Brics blog, Reuters, the Scotsman, Western Mail and the Sydney Morning Herald.
David currently provides the secretariat for the independent advisory panel steering IPPR’s flagship economics programme ‘Promoting growth and shared prosperity in the UK’. He has spoken at several international conferences, including a recent symposium in the German Bundestag on comparative Anglo-German responses to the global financial crisis, organised by the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, and the 2010 Economics Forum of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in Beijing. David was previously assistant convenor of the Global Climate Network, an alliance of thinktanks established by IPPR in 2009.
Prior to joining IPPR, David worked at the Fabian Society and in local government in South Wales and Australia. He read history and French at the University of Warwick and holds a joint masters degree in European politics (‘Euromasters’) from Sciences-Po in Paris and the University of Bath.
