Andy Hull

Andy is a freelance researcher and political consultant specialising in housing, security and equality.

He has led five major inquiries on these subjects at local, regional and national levels:

Co-chair – Islington Fairness Commission (London Borough of Islington)
Policy lead – Counter-Terrorism: The London Debate (Metropolitan Police)
Project manager – Security and the legal domain (Ministry of Justice)
Secretariat head – Commission on National Security in the 21st Century (IPPR)
Programme lead – English housing policy: a fundamental review (IPPR)

Andy is also an elected councillor in the London Borough of Islington and a community volunteer for Citizens UK, where he is a leader on the Living Wage campaign.

After studying at Oxford University, he managed an award-winning youth project for the Metropolitan police in the London Borough of Southwark and was then a policy officer at the Metropolitan Police Authority. From 2008 to 2012, he was a senior research fellow at IPPR, leading the institute’s research on security and housing.

Andy has presented his work to the prime minister and the leader of the opposition, and has appeared in all of the UK’s major broadsheet and tabloid newspapers as well as on the BBC's Today programme and Channel 4 News.
