Alex is co-head of financing client coverage in growth markets within the European Financing Group. He has 15 years of experience in the emerging markets area, leading debt and equity origination and structuring teams. Alex joined Goldman Sachs as a managing director in 2008.

Prior to joining the firm, Alex was co-head of the Emerging Markets Structuring and Derivatives Marketing team at Merrill Lynch and the head of Emerging Market Debt Origination. He has closed debt and equity raisings and maintains relationships in Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Poland, Turkey, Nigeria, Ghana, Angola, South Africa, Georgia, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Pakistan.

Alex earned an LLB from the University of London and an LLM from Harvard Law School. He grew up in Ghana, Botswana, Turkey, Pakistan and India, and speaks fluent Turkish and German. Alex lives in London with his wife, Marie, their two daughters, Iris and Elspeth, and their son, Marquard.
