Joe Farrington-Douglas is a freelance researcher and adviser on health and social care policy and strategy. He was health policy adviser to the Leader of the Opposition and the Shadow Health Secretary in 2011.

He was previously Senior Policy Manager at the NHS Confederation, the organisation representing all organisations in the National Health Service in government and the media, where he led work on system reform and acute service policy and strategy. He has worked as a civil servant in the Cabinet Office Regulatory Impact Unit on public sector regulation.

Joe worked at IPPR from 2005 to 2008, leading on health policy including major projects on healthcare funding, patient choice and hospital reconfiguration. He also led IPPR's work on youth justice.

Joe has a Masters degree from the London School of Economics and a Bachelor's degree from the University of Sussex. He is a community volunteer and political activist in Islington.
