Researcher (Economy, Families & Work)

£24,505 per annum plus benefits

Permanent, full-time (37.5 hours per week)

We are seeking a researcher to work across a range of projects, initially providing research support in the Economy and Families & Work research themes, most likely in the areas of employment and skills policy. Your duties will include conducting research, writing reports, contributing to project development, building networks and assisting with events.

You will have good research skills and a sound knowledge and understanding of UK politics and the public policymaking process.

Requirements

  • a graduate-level qualification in an economics-related field or equivalent training and work experience, combined with a good knowledge and understanding of macro-economic, employment and skills-related policy issues
  • good research skills, preferably including quantitative and qualitative research and analysis
  • excellent written communication and interpersonal skills
  • the ability to manage your workload to meet deadlines
  • a clear commitment to the work and values of IPPR.

Operations Officer (maternity cover)

£26,087 per annum pro rata, plus benefits

10-month fixed-term contract, part-time (30 hours per week)

We are looking for a flexible and willing team player to take on a key role in our Operations team, delivering a professional and effective support service to IPPR staff. The operations officer works across office management and HR and takes responsibility for a range of office duties and HR administration.

Your duties in this wide-ranging role include acting as a key contact for property and office queries (internal and external), liaising with the landlord, managing external supplier relationships and monitoring contracts, and taking responsibility for general office systems such as IT, reception, space planning and security.

You will also work closely with the HR manager on a range of HR duties including coordinating IPPR’s busy internship and work experience programmes, assisting with general recruitment administration, and maintaining and updating HR records.

Requirements

  • proven experience of working as an administrator, ideally in a similar operations environment
  • exceptional organisational skills, with the ability to work independently and use your initiative to manage a busy and varied workload
  • experience of developing and maintaining administrative systems, and an appreciation for the importance of maintaining confidentiality
  • excellent written communication skills and a meticulous attention to detail
  • excellent verbal communication skills, to enable you manage internal and external relationships with tact and diplomacy
