Get involved in our projectsIPPR research projects often involve public participation by individuals or particular groups. From time to time, we seek volunteers to participate in workshops or focus groups, or to fill in surveys or questionnaires. At other times, we will invite individuals and organisations to participate in learning exchange trips or other shared research activities. All opportunities to participate in the work of IPPR are advertised on this page.
Housing supply: young people and across generationsIs the availability and affordability of housing affecting your life? Would you and members of your family like the opportunity to discuss how access to housing has affected you and compare it to the experiences of your family? If you are aged between 18 and 35 we would like to talk to you and other members of your family about your expectations and experiences of housing. We will be arranging interviews for July and August. We can interview families together or separately. Each interviewee will be given £20 for taking part. This would be part of a timely and important IPPR project on housing. It will explore the impact of a serious housing shortage in the UK, the lack of affordable housing and other barriers to securing a place to call home. The project will establish how the restricted housing supply is affecting the aspirations, choices and behaviour of Britain’s young people. It will also explore how similar or different expectations about housing are across and within generations. Women across generationsAre you female and aged over 16? Would you be interested in talking about your experiences and views on women’s aspirations with other female members of your family? We would like to talk to you, your mum and your gran about your aspirations, experiences of work and family life and how opportunities have changed across different generations in your own family. This is part of a new project IPPR is undertaking on how the lives of women have changed between generations. The project aims to explore whether this is the best of times or the worst of times to be a women. It will compare the opportunities and aspirations of younger women compared to their mothers and grandmothers. It will cover a number of important questions, such as how motherhood impacts a woman’s aspirations, how our celebrity obsessed culture and media representations of women affect how women feel about themselves and a range of other issues affecting women today. Interviews will take place during March and April. We are looking to interview all three generations together and also to interview some women individually. Each interviewee will be given a £20 high-street gift voucher for taking part. If you would like to take part in this research please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
