John Curtice is Professor of Politics at Strathclyde University and Research Consultant to the National Centre for Social Research (NatCen). An expert in survey research, he has been a regular contributor to and editor of NatCen's British Social Attitudes survey series since 1985, while from 1983 to 1997 he was co-director of the British Election Study, the principal survey resource for the academic study of voting behaviour in Britain. His research interests include voting behaviour, electoral systems, and social and political attitudes, including not least attitudes towards devolution and independence in Scotland.
Professor Curtice is a regular media commentator on political developments in both Scotland in particular and across the UK in general. He is also President of the British Polling Council, a body that promotes transparency in the opinion poll industry.
