Commissioner Mary Senior with members of the Scottish Government's Economic Strategy Unit

In June the Commission visited Scotland to discuss economic policy and industrial strategy. The delegation comprised Commissioners Bob Kerslake and Mary Senior, Commission Director Michael Jacobs, IPPR Scotland Director Russell Gunson, IPPR North Director Ed Cox and Senior Research Fellow Luke Raikes. At the Scottish Parliament they had a wide-ranging discussion with members of the Economy, Jobs and Fair Work Committee on the impact which devolution had had on economic policymaking in Scotland. In Glasgow they met senior officials from the Scottish Government's Economic Strategy Unit to discuss approaches to industrial strategy, and senior trade unionists to discuss Scotland's pioneering Fair Work Convention. The visit provided valuable learning for the Commission’s work on economic policy in England and in the UK’s nations and regions.
