Webinar, Briefing Launch: Tees Valley and County Durham Climate and Fairness Panel
The IPPR Environmental Justice Commission was set up to develop ideas and policies that put people and fairness at the heart of the response to the climate and nature crises. The commission's Tees Valley and County Durham Climate and Fairness Panel brought together a diverse group, representative of the region, to answer the following question:
“What practical steps should we take together in Tees Valley and County Durham to address the climate crisis and restore nature in a way that is fair for everyone”
In their own words, the Climate and Fairness Panel set out a vision for Tees Valley and County Durham and 32 recommendations on topics ranging from how to fund the costs of the transition, to the future of work and low-carbon industry. Their recommendations demonstrate the need to tackle economic and social injustice at the same time as addressing the climate and nature emergencies. They draw on the practical knowledge, experience and wisdom of some of the communities that will be most affected by a transition to a greener economy.
This event will share the highlights from these recommendations and explore the steps needed, in Tees Valley and County Durham, for a rapid and fair transition which puts people at its heart. The event will formally finish at 14:15, but there is an option to remain until 14:30 and participate in further informal discussion.
Please note that this event is by invitation only, please contact Emma on [email protected] if you would like to sign up.
