Environmental Justice Community Workshops
Please note that in line with public health guidance, this event has now been postponed. We are looking to reschedule at an appropriate time in the future and will update this page as soon as possible.
IPPR and Blackpool Revoe Big Local are delighted to be hosting two days of community workshops exploring the climate emergency in a local context and discussing what environmental justice means for the area.
These workshops are an opportunity for local residents and groups to influence the work of the IPPR Environmental Justice Commission. Over the two days, residents will lead in conversations about what the climate crisis means for them and their community. Participants will also hear from a range of expert speakers from environmental research and policy.
These workshops are part of an ongoing series of participative and deliberative events hosted by the commission, which has already featured similar sessions with Local Trust in Doncaster.
Day 1 will take place on Monday 23 March, 10.00am-4.00pm, at Blackpool Football Club. Day 2 will be held on Wednesday 22 April, from 10.00am-3.30pm in the same venue. Refreshments and catering will be provided. Confirmed speakers include:
Susan Howarth, Partnership Member, Blackpool Revoe Big Local
Caroline Lucas MP, Co-chair, IPPR Environmental Justice Commission
Richard Hindle, Director, SQW
Fernanda Balata, Senior Programme Manager, New Economics Foundation
Luke Murphy, Head of the Environmental Justice Commission, IPPR
Everyone from the community is welcome to take part, but registration in advance is recommended. We ask that participants ideally commit to attending both days.
