Speech by Rt Hon Sir Vince Cable MP
The IPPR Commission on Economic Justice is delighted to invite you to a speech by Rt Hon Sir Vince Cable MP on responsible capitalism. This will take place on Thursday 7th June, at IPPR, 14 Buckingham Street, London, WC2N 6DF. Please arrive at 8.45am for a 9.00am start, the event will then close at 10.30am. Please arrive on time, latecomers may not be admitted.
A decade on from the financial crisis, capitalism continues to suffer from a crisis of confidence. Not a day seems to go by without a scandal erupting around executive misbehaviour, tax avoidance or worker exploitation. Most recently, the collapse of Carillion has thrown into question outsourcing and the state’s relationship with the private sector itself.
In this timely speech, former Business Secretary and Leader of the Liberal Democrats Vince Cable will present his vision for a more responsible capitalism, rejecting both free-market fundamentalism and anti-business populism in favour of an eclectic, innovative and modern approach to reform.
