Heading for the Brexit? Keynote speech from Emma Reynolds MP on Britain's relationship with the EU
Britain's membership with the European Union has never been in more doubt. New polls show that a plurality of Brits (49%) would vote to leave the EU. The UK Independence Party recorded their best ever local election results in 2012 and may win the European elections in 2014. Meanwhile, pressure for an In/Out referendum grows on all sides.

The Labour party has recently reiterated its pro-European credentials while also calling for reform of EU institutions and cuts in the EU budget. IPPR is delighted to host Emma Reynolds MP, Labour's multilingual shadow Europe minister, who will set out Labour's vision of Britain's relationship with the EU.
Leading Italian politician and president of the centrist Alliance for Italy, Francesco Rutelli, will respond with a European perspective. Vernon Bogdanor (invited), Research Professor at the Institute for Contemporary British History of King's College London, will also respond before questions are taken from the floor.
