Parliamentary reception hosted by Rachel Reeves: Northern prosperity is national prosperity
>The Northern Economics Futures Commission is holding a parliamentary reception Northern Prosperity is National Prosperity, hosted by Rachel Reeves MP
Monday 16 July, 18.30 for 19.00 - 20.00
Portcullis House, London
This event will include a panel discussion on how to unleash Northern economic potential for the benefit of the UK economy as a whole. Confirmed speakers include Frances O'Grady, Deputy General Secretary, TUC.
The Northern Economic Futures Commission was established in July 2011 to spearhead an ambitious programme of activity and research over 18 months to look at the critical issues facing the economy of the North and set out a new approach to local and regional economic policy, driven by decision-makers in the North of England.
In its interim report, the Commission makes the case for a much clearer focus on the North in economic policymaking. It argues that the longstanding structural challenges facing the North of England are entrenched by systemic factors that inhibit its long-term growth potential, and contends that it is not in the long-term interests of the UK as a whole for this lack of focus to persist.
Places at this event are limited and attendance is by invitation only. If you are interested in attending and would like to receive an invitation please email Ellie Geddes firstname.lastname@example.org.
