Professor Qi Ye is director of the Brookings-Tsinghua Center for Public Policy. He is the lead author of an important annual report analysing how China is balancing its economic growth and environmental challenges. He also headed up the design of China's first low-carbon development plan.

He is in conversation with Sir David King, the Foreign Secretary's special representative on climate change and previously the government's chief scientist. Sir David is currently leading Foreign Office diplomatic efforts to secure a climate deal later this year.

The discussion focusses on recent policy developments in China and Beijing's approach to the international climate negotiations, followed by questions from attendees.
