The Progressive Policy Think Tank

Director, London Progression Collaboration

IPPR is committed to equality of opportunity and welcomes applications from all sections of the community. As an organisation engaging in critical debate about a wide range of progressive policy issues, we value the creativity and range of perspectives that a diverse team can provide.

IPPR is looking for a dynamic, entrepreneurial and experienced individual to lead the London Progression Collaboration (LPC), a major new initiative to create thousands of new apprenticeships in London. A partnership between IPPR and the Greater London Authority and the Mayor of London, the LPC aims to unlock apprenticeship levy funding to transform opportunities for low paid workers in London.

The Director will provide strategic leadership and develop a high profile for the initiative among policymakers and London’s business community. This is a unique chance to establish an exciting not-for-profit start-up and build a talented team to inspire businesses to create new opportunities for workers in London.

Key responsibilities include managing a team of business advisers to deliver on the initiative’s goals and maintaining excellent relationships with key partners and funders.

To be successful you will need to be passionate about working with employers to improve employment and progression opportunities for those who are unemployed or in low skilled jobs; have excellent leadership and management skills; and be an exceptional communicator.

Experience of business engagement or providing business support/advice and experience of working with the apprenticeship system, would be highly desirable.

As part of our commitment to flexible working we will consider a range of options for the successful applicant to fill the post, including part-time working and secondment opportunities. All options can be discussed at interview stage.
