External Affairs and Events Officer
Job Description
The Institute of Public Policy Research (IPPR) is an independent charity working towards a fairer, greener, and more prosperous society. Over more than three decades, we have worked to ensure that ideas that once seemed impossible have become a reality. Our impact is shown by the way we have helped shape national conversations and progressive policy change - from making the early case for the minimum wage and taking regional inequality to the top of the political agenda, to proposing a windfall tax on energy companies, our research and policy work has put forward practical solutions for the crisis facing society – to enable justice, progress and change.
About the role
We are looking to recruit an External Affairs and Events Officer to join our communications team. You'll work closely with colleagues to plan, develop, coordinate and deliver our communications across a range of channels, with a particular focus on events, partnerships and other stakeholder engagement activities, helping to build our profile and achieve impact and influence for our work.
You’ll work closely with the Head of External Affairs and Events to plan and implement our events programme which brings together top politicians and policymakers, leading writers and academics, business figures and other expert thinkers. A key part of our programme is IPPR’s party conference fringe series, one of the largest and most high-profile fringe programmes of any organisation. This position will include taking a leading role on the logistical and administrative aspects of events management including liaising with speakers, sponsors and other stakeholders, designing marketing activity and event branding, and recording and analysing event outcomes.
You'll also support the delivery of our partnership programme and oher activities designed to engage key audiences and networks, including supporting colleagues to manage important relationships and working more broadly on wider communications team activities.
About you
If you are enthusiastic about engaging different audiences, have a track record of successfully delivering complex or high-profile events, excellent administrative and IT skills, the ability to prioritise a busy workload, and a proactive approach to problem solving, then this is the ideal job for you. You will combine excellent communication and event delivery skills with an interest in politics, public affairs and public policy.
