IPPR North, the North of England’s progressive policy think-tank, is looking for a new media and campaigns manager to communicate our ideas for a stronger economy and great public services to journalists, government and other stakeholders.
In recent years we’ve transformed our media presence, securing more than 5,000 media hits a year and organising successful social media campaigns. We have established ourselves as the go-to organisation for both national and regional media on the Northern economy.
We are now looking for a new media and campaigns manager to help take forward this vital work. An exceptionally gifted candidate, you will immediately become a leading player in the Northern PR community. From voicing the North’s response to Brexit, to campaigning for transport funding, through to working with community groups on our Northern Citizens Coalition, you will drive a dynamic and varied agenda.
Whether you’re a working in PR in agency or in-house, a journalist or a campaigner, we are open to applications from all who can demonstrate a strong knowledge of national and regional media, excellent writing skills and a demonstrable interest in politics and policy. Experience of working on pan-Northern issues or devolution and supporting fundraising is desirable.
You will also support the media and communications functions of IPPR Scotland, IPPR’s dedicated cross-party progressive think tank for Scotland, based in Edinburgh. Once again, we are looking for a candidate who has a good grasp of policy issues and political dynamics in Scotland and with a willingness to travel to support events and activities north of the border.
This is a full-time (37.5 hours) post based in our Manchester office offered at £33,703 per annum plus benefits.
As part of our commitment to flexible working we will consider a range of options for the successful applicant to fill the post. All options can be discussed at interview stage.
