Laura Chappell

Joint interim director of policy and politics

Laura Chappell is associate director for international policy at IPPR, and joint interim director of policy and politics.
 

Laura specialises in geopolitics and international finance, climate and development policy. She spent 12 years working across three government departments, including as an advisor in the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. She has extensive experience across Europe, Africa, and Asia-Pacific, working with ministers, senior officials and business leaders, amongst others. 

Laura is a commentator on UK foreign policy, the UK’s alliances including with the US, Europe and the countries of the global south, and the future of the international order and has featured on the BBC's Today programme, Sky News, Radio 5 Live, and BBC News 24.

Laura has a masters in development economics from the School of Oriental and African Studies where she won the taught masters prize for excellence.
