Dr Sofia Ropek-Hewson

Senior research fellow

Sofia is a senior research fellow in the democracy and politics team.

Her areas of expertise include political inequality, local democracy, and how our environments and tools shape who we are.

Before joining IPPR, Sofia was a civil servant working on higher education policy, the development of the Homes for Ukraine scheme, and local government policy and legislation.

Sofia has a PhD in political philosophy from the University of Cambridge, where she was president of the postgraduate student union.
