LEPs will play a key role in the Coalition government's ambition to rebalance the economy. This short paper outlines four tests that the proposals for Local Enterprise Partnerships should be assessed against.
Furthermore, as RDAs are abolished, LEPs will become the most important vehicle for sub-national economic development. It is therefore essential that they are able to move forward economic development in lagging areas.
