About Private roundtable: AI innovation in the UK: Filling the deployment gaps

IPPR's new report, The direction of AI innovation in the UK, reveals that whilst AI innovation in the UK is widespread across all sections, significant deployment gaps exist that may hinder its transformative potential. To address these gaps, our report recommends a more mission-driven approach to AI innovation policy.

This event will discuss the report's recommendations, including breaking down government missions into specific problem areas and explicitly linking innovation funding to these missions. It will also consider how such strategic interventions could help steer AI development towards greater societal objectives, whilst also lifting growth.

Our speakers include:

  • Rikesh Shah, head, Innovation Procurement Empowerment Centre
  • Carsten Jung, principal research fellow and head of macro and head of AI, IPPR
