Private roundtable: The budget and beyond: Unpacking the 2025 Autumn Budget
About Private roundtable: The budget and beyond: Unpacking the 2025 Autumn Budget
The stakes for a government are rarely higher than at a budget. With the Autumn Budget on the horizon, the Chancellor faces a multitude of difficult choices amongst a challenging economic context.
As speculation grows as to how the government will be able to raise the revenues needed to combat low growth, high inflation and significant pressures on public services, so have fears of bond-market wobbles and fragile business sentiment. With the opinion of the voting public, who put this government into office, to consider too, there remains questions about how the Chancellor can balance these dynamics.
This event will form the second in a series of private roundtables, offering the chance to discuss and analyse the impact of the Chancellor’s decisions on Britain’s economy and the consequences for public perception of this Labour government.
Our speakers will include:
- Steve Akehurst, director, Persuasion UK
- Mohammad Jamei, director of economic policy, Confederation of British Industry
- Rachael Henry, head of advocacy, IPPR
This event is part of IPPR's Westminster Pulse series; an invitation-only roundtable series which forms part of our partnership programme. For more information on these events or our partnership programme, please contact Victoria Pope on v.pope@ippr.org.
