About Private roundtable: Trading ties: Navigating opportunities and trade offs in a time of geopolitical instability
With the global economy in tumult, the UK faces critical choices and difficult trade-offs in developing its international economic policy. The coming months will be crucial for shaping how the UK government navigates the complex and fast-changing global economic landscape.
Building on IPPR's recent report, Navigating trade-offs in the global economy: A framework for a world between orders, this event will discuss potential objectives for UK international economic policy and how the government should navigate tensions and trade-offs between these objectives. We will discuss how governments balance different trade-offs – between growth and resilience, economic integration and sovereignty, and green industrial strategy and relations with the global south.
Our speakers include:
- Professor Anand Menon, director, UK in a Changing Europe
- Helena Coe, policy manager (global), CBI
