Craig Thorley, IPPR Research Fellow on Public Services, responding to new TUC analysis showing Ill-health or disability is forcing one-in-eight people to stop working before they reach pension age, said:

"In order to reduce the number of people affected by sickness at work as they approach retirement, government must work more closely with employers.

“This should include an expansion of the Fit for Work service to ensure employees in smaller businesses can access occupational health provision to help them stay healthy at work for longer."
