Dayo Eseonu
Associate fellow, IPPR NorthDayo (Temidayo) Eseonu is a lecturer in politics and policy at Lancaster University, UK. She is interested in the struggle for racial equity and the means through which this can be achieved, focusing on the democratic participation of racially minoritised communities, particularly young people. Through creative participatory processes, her research centres the voices and experiences of racially minoritised young people to inform the development of policy and service provision. Her most recent publication, conceptualising anti-racist institutionalism, argues that institutions, as sets of narratives, practices and rules, are racialised, and these institutions can be transformed in pursuit of racial equity.
Her work actively spans the boundaries of academia, community, policymaking and public administration. She is the founding convenor of the Racial Equity in Policy Network, a network for policymakers in the UK interested in addressing racial inequalities. She is also a trustee for Involve and is involved with grassroots organisations such as the Humanity Project, Our House and Lancashire Citizens.
Dayo will be supporting IPPR North on participatory processes and issues of equity in politics and policy.
