Josh MacAlister

Josh is the founder and chief executive of Frontline, a start-up charity with the mission of transforming the lives of vulnerable children by recruiting and developing outstanding people to be leaders in social work and broader society. Frontline aims to emulate the success that Teach First has had in the education system. Josh developed the case for Frontline at IPPR in 2012, and the first cohort began their training in 2014.

A teacher by background, having worked in a number of Manchester secondary schools and as a former head of department, Josh is also an ambassador of the Teach First scheme. Josh holds an MA (Hons) in politics and social policy from the University of Edinburgh and a master's degree in leadership in education from the University of Manchester. He is a former president of the Edinburgh University student union.
