Mirte is principal research fellow and interim head of IPPR North, where she leads on tackling regional inequality and the devolution of power from Westminster to England’s regions.

Before joining IPPR, Mirte co-founded and was the UK Director of the Carbon Balance Initiative, a climate NGO working closely with government and researchers on the net zero transition. Previously, she was a researcher at Oxford Net Zero and policy advisor on regional inequality at the Department for Media, Culture and Sport.

Mirte has a Master of Public Policy from the University of Oxford. She grew up in Lancaster and Cumbria.
