Mirte is principal research fellow and head of regional growth at IPPR North, where she leads on tackling inequality across England's regions and ways to drive long term prosperity.

Before joining IPPR, Mirte co-founded and was the UK Director of the Carbon Balance Initiative, a climate NGO working closely with government and researchers on the net zero transition. Previously, she was a researcher at Oxford Net Zero and policy advisor on regional inequality at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.

Mirte has a Master of Public Policy from the University of Oxford. She grew up in Lancaster and Cumbria.
