Companies are often best placed to reduce the opportunities for crime against their own products and services, and this report discusses the need for a new partnership between government and the corporate sector.
There are already many examples of good practice in companies designing crime out of a product (car immobiliser, chip and PIN technology on credit cards) and out of services (the security to avoid stowaways on Eurostar, plastic glasses to prevent injuries in pubs). But these successes have been achieved without any clear public policy framework or government strategy.
