The Oxford Media Convention 2008 considered the challenges facing the media industry and policy makers as digital switchover and convergence become consumer realities.

The previous year has seen our existing regulatory system come under pressure, with media ownership provisions, content regulation, and importantly the role, remit and responsibilities of public service broadcasters subject to increasing scrutiny.
Against this background, the Oxford Media Convention provided key opportunity for thinking creatively about the regulatory framework we want to see develop to ensure the continued success of our creative and media industries, and the place and provision of public service content over the next decade.
